The waiting game

It's definitely nice to get out here and put the uniform back on after what seems like four or five days off. After we clinched, there was time for the mind and body to shut down a little bit, and it's good to break a sweat and get revved back up again.

Ap070927030307 Craig Monroe and I were talking, and I told him that after playing the Tigers last year, I felt they were going to win the World Series. They were far and away the best team in baseball last year, and it didn't work out for them and St. Louis won the World Series. He felt they had too much of a layoff. They had about a week off after sweeping Oakland, and were able to wait out.

The wait is usually viewed as a good thing, but in baseball, if you're not seeing live pitching and you're not out there going through the everyday play of the game, it's tough. It's not like you can do simulated games in between, because you don't want to risk injury. You have to sit and wait to see what's decided in the other league, and he felt that put them at a disadvantage early.

It remains to be seen what happens this year, but those Colorado and Phillies series coming down to the last games, I think you're going to see a good series from those two teams.

We clinched first. Isn't that funny? Who would've thought after April and May that we would clinch first? We got a nice laugh about that.

It's definitely exciting to be in Arizona. The roof is open -- I don't know if they'll keep it open. They'll probably want to close it and turn the heaters on. Their fans will be here in droves. I'm sure we'll have plenty of Cubs fans here to cheer us on.

I'm not nervous now. I will be. I get more nervous for pregame introductions than I will for the actual game. Once you get that first ground ball hit to you, or that first pitch thrown to you, I think it all goes away and you start playing baseball again. I think it's only human for you to be nervous. If anyone says they're not, I think they're lying. Nerves are a good thing. You don't let them affect you. It's one thing to let them affect your play. It's only human to be a little jittery and realize what you're playing for.

I'll be wearing my regular road pants. They've been sewn up [after getting ripped in the seat] and they'll be worn tomorrow and throughout the course of the postseason. The only real superstition I go with is if I take an 0-fer, then I'll change my batting gloves and my bat. Besides that, I've been pretty good on trying not to let superstitions run my life. I'm the type of person that if I really bought into it, it would be mentally defeating for me.

Mark,

I don't know how to say it but you're just so real with the fans of Chicago. You talk about your feelings and get them out there. Good luck in the postseason and give Webb some trouble! Keep grinding!

Nice info about the superstitions, Mr. DeRosa. The rituals players go through and superstitions they adhere to are among the more fascinating things about baseball as a sport. After all, who among has hasn't been driven to distraction by Nomar Garciaparra's endless batting glove adjustment?

Congrats on making the playoffs, and good luck in Arizona!

Mark, I loved your enthusiasm and work ethic when you were a Brave and I was so excited when MY Cubbies signed you this year. Here's to a World Series ring for Chicago in '07.

knock on wood sid...

i like what you said about superstitions, it is apart of the game. im going to take that approach from now on. i usually think about it a lot before the game, and then not really consumed by it during the game. i accept my nerves before and then go on. are you watching ESPN at all to hear what they have to say?

GOOD LUCK TOMORROW

GO CUBS!!!

Mark,

You, and the rest of your team, are AMAZING. I have been a Cubs fan for my whole life (18 years) and I've been through 2003 and all that stuff. It's been rough. And the beginning of the season didn't look very bright. But you guys turned it around totally. You brought hope to us all. There's really no words to describe what you and the rest of the guys have given to us fans. It's incredible, and I'm so glad I stuck around for the ride this season. GOOD LUCK TOMORROW and the rest of the post season.

I love you guys with all my heart,

Kate

GO CUBS!

2007 IS THE YEAR!

I'm so nervous and psyched up and that's just to WATCH the game. I'll probably be clutching the bar table tomorrow night...

You make your own luck in life!

Thank you for sharing so openly about your feelings re: the post season. It's great to have baseball in Chicago on the North Side in October. Been a fan since 1956. Been thru a lot with the team, but I'm with you guys all the way, as always. All the best to you and everyone. GO GET 'EM. BEAT THOSE D'BACKS!!!!

Rip the seat of your pants. Rip the cover off the ball. Toss the crappy lumber. Whatever. My grandma's dying. My great grandpa's dead.

Mark - Relax and enjoy. Baseball is the greatest game ever invented and you have the privelige to play it. There are certain players that embody the spirit of baseball, you are one of them. Make the city of Chicago proud and let's beat the D-Backs.

During the Cubs convention, we experienced "Bears fever" as they checked into the hotel before a playoff game - my comment at the time: This is nothing compared to what this city will be like when the Cubs make the playoffs!!! Have fun - see you for the clinch at Wrigley!!

Hey, thanks for sharing your thoughts. And congratulations on making the playoffs in some of the most exciting, nervewracking, and heartstopping ways imaginable! (And I'm just an ordinary lifelong fan...I can barely imagine what Ron Santo's going through. Heh.)

Anyway, best of luck to you in the playoffs! Here's hoping you have no need to change your gloves and bat for the duration of the playoffs, and that we can fly that "W" flag 11 more times in 2007.

Good luck and Go, Cubs, Go!

Mark

Ive been a fan since I was 8 ( about ) 50 years now..

Your open and authentic manner and ways are so refreshing in such a big business as baseball..

You remind me warmly of Ron Santo ..he also is the real genuine article..

Never lose that...

Heres hoping for a wonderful ride to a place My Grandpa and Father never got to see...

But I might just be able to have my 2 boys with me in Wrigley this time around to witness the greatest event in Chicago Sports History...

3rd generations the charm...

I believe it !!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Mark!
First off, thanks to you and the cubs for the most unbelievable, exciting summer of my life - I have never had so much fun. My dad (cubs fan since 1955) and I have been waiting since '03 for something to wipe away the horrible memories of how we were defeated - i think this team is up to the challenge.

Secondly, thanks to you personally for playing your heart out every single day. I know that when you signed here, the cubs told you that you'd be the everyday second baseman, and you ended up playing pretty much every position on the field...you bring so much to the team...

I didnt really know who you were when Hendry signed you...

in my opinion that was his most brilliant move of the offseason...keep playing hard, and bring us the title we've been waiting for so long...

(living in NY with all those yankees rings is not easy...)

GO CUBS GO!

Mark,

I'm sure you won't have time to read all these comments (after all, you do have SLIGHTLY more important things to focus on at the moment...) but I just wanted to take a second and say thank you for an incredible ride this season. Cubs fans have always had hope (and sometimes not much else), but this year feels different—somewhere between a not-so-great start and an amazing September the question changed from “Can they do it?” to “How are they going to do it today?” It’s hard to think of a singe guy on the roster who hasn’t come through at some crucial point to get us to where we are right now.

So thank you, to you and all the rest of the team, for bringing us this far. No matter how October ends, you guys have given us one **** of a season, and it’s still far from over. Good luck tomorrow--we all belive in you!

~Sara

well put.
lead us into battle mark.

Mark, you are a class act. Thanks for keeping in touch with the fans. You cracked me up in your recent postgame interview when the reporter tried to irritate you w/the fact that Lou didn't know how many hits you had just gotten (FIVE!) You replied that it didn't matter, you just wanted to be on the roster the next day. I love that "put me in coach" mentality. I can't wait to see you guys back at Wrigley on Saturday. I'll be cheering from the bleachers! Love and luck to my men in blue.

Mark,
I want to thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and for your contribution to the cubs success. Your flexibility in positions as well as your consistency at the plate has made a big impact on where we (the cubs) are today.

I am a such a huge fan of the cubs and really believe this is our year! Thanks for a great year and I look foward to watching every game.

-Laura

P.S. on a non-baseball note: I joke around with my b/f by telling him that you're my "cubs boyfriend" every time you come to the plate! (just thought you might get a laugh out of that!)

Hey Mark,
I just wanted to wish you and the rest of the team the best of luck. I have faith in all of you and I know that you will finish off strong. I have been a Cubs fan all my life since birth, my mom jokes that I was born with a Cubs flag in my hand, and I know that this is our year. I think that you are an outstanding and amazing player. I joke with my friends that you are a "sin" that's what we call you. Because you have amazing skills and are good looking and a combination of the both is just too good not to be a sin. Good Luck in Arizona can’t wait for all of you to return to Chicago.

Lindsay

Good luck Mark! You should be batting 2nd. But Lou has brought you this far! He knows what to do. Try to imagine those D-backs as the Reds! :P

We love you guys! Can't wait to get to see you back at Wrigley soon enough!

GO CUBS GO!!

Oh! By the way, There will be MANY Cubs fans. Maybe even out numbering D-back fans. You have a lot of Cub fans in Arizona, being where you guys played pre-season each year. The D-backs manager went off on the radio today and isn't happy that there is going to be a lot of Cub fans. What can we say? Cub fans are everywhere. As you said, there will be a LOT of Cub fans there to cheer you guys on. I think you'll be shocked!

Also, when you showed up at the Pep Rally in Chicago on that huge screen you got the BIGGEST cheers! Everyone loves you Mark. You're a good player and a good guy. Bring it home baby!

GO CUBS GO!

Good Luck and GO CUBBIES!!!!
Hey Mark -

Love to watch you play - what a boost you have given this club! I'm a third generation Cub fan - I only wish my dad was here to see you all now! It's been a fun season and I'm looking forward to a great postseason. I love to see all the Cubbie blue when you guys are on the road.....only wish I was one of them!

Cindy

Mark!

When I learned that you were coming to play for the Cubs and saw you and the team play early on in the season, you easily became one of the players I learned to love the most on this team. And that respect only grew as the season went on as you became one of those players were incredibly lucky to have and needed to have to win, and it's definitely paid off. I can't wait to see the Game 1 tomorrow and I definitely don't need to say that you have the support of thousands of dedicated Cub Fans everywhere. I know you'll all make us proud!

Go Cubs Go!!

Laura

I never knew there was so much on this site haha. I usually just thought there was upcoming games, news, schedule, etc. Never thought there were blogs by players.

DRo, the first game of the season (I think, I kind of distanced myself from sports from the last years cub year). You know when your watching someone hit, and you can just tell they're a good hitter? That's what I said when I first saw you.

What I like about you is that your so consistant with the bat, and glove for sure. Most people go in horrible no-hit droughts, and amazings streaks. But you just seem to just consistantly get the same amount of hits in a series everytime, which is awsome.

Well it's nice to see a player telling us whats going on in the players minds.

I hope you read this, or I just wasted 5 minute so of my life haha. Go cubs.

Good luck to you and all your teammates...Your a Magical team and your one of the best...I love your honesty...Just have fun...Baseball is the greatest sport and your part of the greatest franchise ever...You have all the support in the world...And if it helps kiss your bat...I did every time in little league and it helped...Good luck and GO CUBBIES!

MARK-

The BEST of luck to you and the CUBS!!! you are the DEFINITION of "team player". Thank you for a great regular season, and getting us to the playoffs. Now bring us home a world series championship!!!

Ah I forgot something.

The thing I notice about you that I absolutely LOVE, that a lot of other players can't seem to do is to take the pitch count deep almost everytime. Everytime your up at the plate I know your going to have a decent at bat, foul of some tough pitches and usually work the count to 3-2.

I believe even if you don't get a hit in the bat, it's nice for atleast your first at bat especially with no one out base, to really get to see every pitch. Foul off close pitches, see how his pitches move, so next time when you come up you know what he's got, and not only that but you can tell the other guys in the dugout, what his pitches do, and what to look out for.

I wish I could go to more cubs games (I only get to see like 1 or 2 a year) which dissapoints me. My parents won't seem to spend some money for playoff tickets or more than one game, but just to let you know I might not be there but i'm rooting for ya.

Okay okay man, i'll stop ramblin.

Good luck dude.

Mark,

Thanks for the ride so far. Keep it going. I've been a fan since 1982 when I was 12. There's nothing better than being a Cubs fan, but it would be nice to get to the World Series. Best of luck.

God Bless.

Hey Mark,
You mention your superstition, can you tell us about other players superstitions? Who has the oddest one?

Thomas VB Decker

Hey Mark,
Congratulations to you and the team on winning the division! I am a HUGE Cubs fan and was so excited when you guys won!! I moved to AZ from the Chicago area 2 years ago, but am still and always will be a loyal Cubs fan! I am disappointed that I will not be able to attend the games here in AZ, but I will be watching on TV and cheering you guys on along with many other Cubs fans here....and there are many!

I also want you to know Mark that you are my favorite Cub!!! When you guys played here in AZ in August I made it to the Sunday game. To my disappointment, you had the day off, so I didn't get to see you play. Although, as much as I would have liked to have seen you play, I know that you work so hard and that you are such a giving team player, so I know you deserved the day off!! Besides your wonderful personality (what I've seen in interviews), I really admire your willigness to do whatever it takes to help the team win and your tremendous versatility!! And on top of your amazing skills, you are HOT and have a fantastic smile too!!!

Anyway, I just wanted to thank you and the team for a great season and I look forward to seeing the post-season games if only on TV and I KNOW you will be great!!!!

GO CUBBIES GO!!!!!

I Luv u Mark. You are one of the main reasons the cubs are in the playoffs. your work ethic and your ability to play almost all positions make you an important asset to this team. All we need you to do is pitch j/k. Good Luck Hun I luv you all. I live and breath cubby blue.

Hey Mark. I just wanted to say good luck and that I will be one of the many fans rooting you on in Arizona. I have my tickets to game one and I'll be there fully decked out in my Cubs gear! Can't wait to see you guys take the field tomorrow night. Again, the best of luck to you and it's good to see the Cubbies playing in October.

-Shawn

You have brought an incredible amount of versatility to baseball on the North side of Chicago. Keep up the incredible work! I live in Philly and I am already in Arizona, and I will be making the trip to Chicago as well. I've already secured tickets for one game at Wrigley (thanks to the kindness of the very generous scalpers). Let's see if I can afford them for the other game. YOU GUYS ARE INCREDIBLE and I hope that in the end we all get the results we are hoping for.

GOOD LUCK

hey Mark,

congrats on the NLD and good luck in the post !!!!!

GO CUBS !!!!!

Mark

Nice to see your thoughts going into the postseason. Great job all year, just do your best and enjoy the game. I'm also at least a third-generation fan - my mom, and her mom before her (and possibly her folks before her), have been die-hard fans going back to the 30s or earlier. I was at Wrigley with my mom the day Woody struck out 20 - and my wife was expecting our first son, who is now a 9-year-old Cub fan. Here's hoping we all get to see the Cubs do well over the next several weeks! Good luck Mark, and GO CUBS!

Wooooooo hoooooooo!!!!! GO CUBS GO!!!! I'm so excited to get a chance to voice my support to you! You guys deserve to be where you are!! We'll be rooting you on every step of the way in Galveston, Indiana!

Good luck...play hard... and go get em!

Charlene :o)

Hey Mark, You've been one of my favorite players on the Cubs this year, thanks for doing a great job. Wishing you & your teamates a great October!

Mark,
Great job by the entire team this year. Make sure you guys keep it real and keep the "team" in mind in the playoffs.

P.S. Bring my dream of a Cubs WS Championship to reality

MARK,
LOVE YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT SUPERSTITION'S..DON'T ALL BALLPLAYERS HAVE THEM ? ..I AM SO GLAD CUBS ARE BACK IN THE PLAYOFF'S, BUT I CAN'T HELP BUT THINK ABOUT ALL THOSE CUBS FANS WHO ARE NO LONGER WITH US..IT IS TIME TO END THE JINK AND THE 99 YEARS WE HAVE NOT BEEN WORLD CHAMPS..GOOD LUCK CUBS AND REMEMBER IT IS JUST A GAME...GO CUBS GO

JOE THE BEERMAN

Mark-

My Dad is a Texas native and lives near the Ballpark at Arlington, or ATT or Taco Bell Park or whatever they are calling it these days. Anyways when I would go down there to visit he and I would go to Rangers games, sometimes 3 or 4 per my two week stay. I used to always tell my pop that I wished the Cubs would pick up Mark DeRosa, needless to say when I saw the trade went through last fall I was pretty pleased. You have done great here so far and hope you stick around for a long time, maybe we will be flying a DeRosa flag from one of the foul poles with Ryno and Santo someday.

Thanks,

Mike

Mark,

Congratulations on a terrific year. You've really caught on as a Cub.

I just want to say good luck in the playoffs.

No matter what happens, don't get caught up in that billy goat curse b.s. The national media will try to shove it down our throats, because they think it makes a good story.

But it's like Lou said: There is no curse, there never has been a curse. Baseball games are won and lost on the playing field.

And like I always say, Wrigley was right to turn Sianis and his goat away from the park in 1945. No barnyard animals allowed in the park. It's common sense.

That goat might have gotten loose, crapped all over the place and kicked some poor little kid in the head. And Wrigley would have had a major lawsuit on his hands.

Sianis was a lunatic -probably a Sox fan. GO CUBS!!

Mark - I'll be there at Chase Field to cheer you and the rest of the Cubbies on! God bless!

Congratulations and good luck in the playoffs! You are one of my favorite Cubs and it’s so exciting to see the season keep going. =)
I was at the Monday rally here in Chicago and noticed that you shaved. With all this talk about superstition and what players do to before games, I was wondering if you did that because you guys were in the playoffs? Also, will you grow it back as you guys continue playing?

GO CUBS!!!

Mark - It's time, let's get it done.
You have been terrific all season and I know you will do great doing the post season.

By the way, watch those outside corners, you have been getting screwed with that, I have been watching. Don't argue, we can't afford you to get kicked out. But you have been right on those calls.

Good Luck Today, you are a true Cub and we all appreciate what you have done for us this year.

GO CUBS!!!

Mark,
Thanks for a thrilling season of Cubbie baseball. You are definitely the MVP of this team. I am one of those diehard Cub fans who supports my team no matter what. I really love this game and can't wait to watch the next Cubs game. I get to go to about three home games a year and Wrigley Field is still the best place to be and we have the greatest fans. Except for the ones who boo their own players. I really don't get that. Congratulations to you and the whole team and good luck in the playoffs!

Mark, I love love love you and I am so happy that you and the other guys have made it this far this year!! I have been to Wrigley at least once every year since second grade (21 years) and I loved seeing you play this year!!! I was actually spoiled this year and have been to 4 games, one of which was in Arizona. I have family there and they are big dback fans :(
Good luck tonight and lets show all those non believers what being a Cub is all about!!!!!

3Rd generation born and raised in Chicago and NW burbs and have lived in the mtns at 8500 ft W of the Springs for the last 17. You wouldn't think I could lose but ALL I care about it is the CUBS. Your the best move they made last year Mark. Chicago may be my home but this is the place to live. Maybe I'll go see a game if you make it to Denver-which by the way is not the mountians.

GO CUBS GO!

Mark,

I am not sure if you actually read the responses we send but if you do, I just want you and the guys to know it really has been a year to remember. I live in Wisconsin and am a sadistic cubs fan. I can tell you every stat from the Cubs major and minor league teams. It has been a great year to be a Cub fan and it has been a real joy to watch you play in a Cubs uniform. I dropped every penny I have to get 2 tickets to Saturday's game. Just an opportunity that I could not pass up. I get to go to a Cubs playoff game and sit right behind the Cubs dugout. How amazing. Just wanted to say thank you for everything you do for us Cubs fans. I know we can be harsh sometimes but we know that you put it all out there and we appreciate it. Thanks again and GO CUBBIES!

Hi Mark! Good luck from a Cubs fan in Kentucky! Hey Kentucky whadda you say, THE CUBS ARE GONNA WIN TODAY!
Pat

Mark:

My mom is an 80 year old Cub fan. She used to take us to Wrigley Field on Ladies Day. She keeps score of every game, always has, and wants to be buried with her Cubs blanket. She's been waiting a long time for this. Let's do it.

Go Cubs!

Good luck from Austin, TX and congrats on a great regular season! You have always carried yourself well with the team/ fans and it is well appreciated. I love how you do whatever is asked of you and have not complained one bit. Hopefully some of the calls on outside pitches start to go your way! Go Cubs Go!

Mark,

I just want to say that admittedly, I was a little hesitant about the Cubs signing you. But now that we've seen you for an extended amount of time, I don't want to see anyone else turning double plays in Cubby blue! As a life long Cub fan (even though it's only been 21 years) I want to thank you for your durability, flexibility for playing anywhere in the field and lineup, and your amazingly solid and consistent play. You've been my MVP all season! Let's bring a championship back to the North Side, and let it stretch into Ft. Wayne, IN for me. GOI CUBBIES!

Who or what will the Cubs blame for this year's failure? Go D'Backs!

The layoff is often the blame for why a team doesnt do well in the postseason. take it as a challenge. yes we clinched on friday but you still have to come out and play the next two days and you still have to come out and play tonight. It's the playoffs, its what as pro ball players you dream of, its what you dream of playing in the backyard, so the days in between are exactly that days in between, go out there and play like you all have done all season long and you will be fine.mark- I am have to say you are my favorite cub player to watch, I think your felxibility and your constantancy is what makes you such a good player. Good Luck tonight and Go Cubs!!

Mark:

Thanks for giving us all a little insight into what life is like as a pro ball player.

To the team: Go out there tonight and give it your best. When you guys give it your best, YOU ARE UNBEATABLE. I'm sure Big Z would agree with this famous quotation:

"For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." 2 Timothy 1:7.

Go out there and show them what CUBS POWER is all about!!

Carlos:

"Porque no nos ha dado Dios espíritu de cobardía, sino de poder, de amor y de dominio propio."

Vaya con dios!

Mark,
My sister (born in '84) is named Jody after Jody Davis. I am carrying a little girl right now, due any day. If things go well, maybe Rosa would be an appropriate name! I'm counting down the seconds until tonight's game. We're behind you and rooting for you all the way! Just eleven wins to go, but take them one at a time.

Mark: My sister thinks you are the sexiest cub and I think you rock! You are one **** of a ball player....In other words you are welcomed to my family [we have a beach house in Puerto Rico]

Be the leader, trust yourself!

Mark-

Thank you for taking the time out for the fans. It means alot. You have my vote as the team MVP this year, no doubt. Your versatility was key. Get the boys fired up and take the next step! Go Cubs!

Hey Mark, congratulations on making it to the playoffs! Hope you and your team do well. Our parents talk all the time of how they used to live across the street from you in Carlstadt! Keep up the good work, we'll be watching.
Kyle & Devin (Wood-Ridge,NJ)

Where is Steve Bartman?

Thanks for being a stud on this team all year Mark! We love your ability and willingness to plug in where ever we need you on any day. We can't wait to see our beloved Cubbies in the playoffs again.

If you get a chance, tell The Riot to check you http://www.turning-two.com

We're big fans!

Mark,

Good luck tonight. I have been a Cubs fan my whole life and am so excited for you and the rest of the team. Can't wait to see my Cubbies blow the D-Backs right out of the desert. From all of the other Cubs fans in Denver (the real fans for the real team) GO CUBBIES!

Mr. DeRosa: I'm an Oregon transplant from Chicago, and a diehard Cubs fan since 1958 (day I was born). I've been through the many downs and ups. Great job so far this year! Keep it going! Great blog. Wish more players would do it. "Lets get some runs!!!!"

Hey Mark, my favorite Cub,

Congratulations to you and my lifelong favorite team for making it into the playoffs!

Thanks for being so honest about being nervous before a game. It's nice to hear that our heros emulate our own feelings. However, I'm sure you'll be amazing. Even though you will be nervous, just remember you have several fans out here who believe in you! Go get those Diamondbacks! GOOOO CUBS! Next year is here!

Much love,

Heather from Indiana

Mark,
It's great to know, Mark, that despite your success, you remain an everyday type of person. If you follow Fast Eddie Felson's secret to winning of being"fast and loose", ARam, you, and Lee may be a postscript to Tinkers, Evers, to Chance in immortality. Here's hoping, buddy!

P.S. Remember: Fast and Loose is the ticket!

I cannot believe that there is actually a player who knows the meaning of a true Cub. I hope you stay forever at the Cubs, and not completely go for the money. Life is more than money. Loyalty is tops when it comes to sports. Just like Ronnie.

MARK

MY HUSBAND AND I WERE WATCHING THE GAME THE OTHER NIGHT AND THEY INTERVIEWED YOU AFTER THE GAME. I TOLD MY HUSBAND I REALLY LIKED YOU. YOU COME ACROSS SO DOWN TO EARTH AND PERSONABLE. I LOVE THE PASSION YOU HAVE FOR THE GAME. THAT'S SOMETHING I'VE SEEN THIS SEASON IN THE CUBS.....THE PASSION IS BACK!!! GOOD LUCK AND TAKE IT ALL THE WAY!!!

JAMIE MIZELL

Mark,

My nerves are working in overtime too, and I am not even playing the game! You will definitely have plenty of Cub fans in the stands cheering you guys on. I just flew in from Chicago last night and my plane was full of Cub fans. Granted we will all pretty much be in the 3rd balcony, but that just means that we have to cheer louder!

Go Cubs!!!

Mary

Hey DeRo!
Im just writing to say, I'm flying up for saturdays game to see you guys rock the snakes... i will be screaming my lungs out for you guys out there... we are all with you and behind you! Give 'em **** man... make em wish they were stuck in spring training...

GO CUBBIES!!

Taylor

Mark,

You have been nothing but a class act all season, your adaptability to Lou's crazy lineups day to day is a big part of why the Cubs have been successful this year. I have to hand it to you after basically being told you were the starting second baseman, to have that role change into utility player is something most players wouldn't be able to handle. Keep up the great work and lets get the first three out of 11 here and move on!

WTG Cubbies!

I've been cheering along all season, and wish you and the team the best of luck.

Have a great day!

D-Rose,

thanks for sharing your thoughts. I have been a fan for a long time. My sisiter and nephews are big fans too. Good luck out there!!!

Dan

Hey DeRosa,
As an Arizona Nataive I got to say, Them Diamondbacks Got NOTHING on the Cubbies! I cant wait to see you guys give them ****!!! LETS GO CUBBIES!!!!

Hey D-row,
I think you hit the nail right on the head, "my" cubbies, as they're known by people close to me are definitely a complete team, they pitch very well, they have complete production from anywhere in the lineup, and when you are all hot, you guys are fun to watch. "you can't be beat" I was in a car wreck back in 2004, I was in a coma for a little more than a month, and I have been told that they knew I was alright, because I had to watch the cubbies win it all. That is what I have always said. I cant die until the cubbies win it, and this is the most complete team that I have seen in a very very long time.

get those D-backs, you take their best punches and they give up, they don't know the meaning of a "team win" like "my cubbies"

Hey, Mark -
I have definately been watching all summer (well, up until about a month ago anyway) and am extremely excited for this series to start. My husband and I have been to 2 games this year and loved every minute of it! This past month, though, I've been out of the loop - my son, a soldier for the army - was injured in Afghanistan and I have been on the other side of the country to be with him. He is recovering well and I am ready to watch my Cubs again and cheer you on to victory!! LET'S GO CUBBIES, LET'S GO!!LET'S GO CUBBIES, LET'S GO!!

..thanks for a great season Mark. Your interviews on the radio have been hilarious.

Best wishes to you guys in the playoffs....bring it home to Chicago.

If you guys want a sweet motivation/get jacked up song for the playoffs...throw "Lose yourself" by Eminem on the clubhouse box

Mark,
besides my girlfriends OBSESSION with you, she is right, as far as you being the most welcome addition we have had the pleasure of seeing, i have been a Cubs fan since birth in 1979 and it is extremely rare to see such a player fit SO well into the organization. you have taken it personally and placed our burden upon your shoulders, with all the trials and tribulations of the season, few things have remained constant...except you(and other OUTSTANDING TEAM members). we are lucky to have your experience and drive in the post season, please continue to mentor, train, and lead us to a season we won't soon forget! LETS GET SOME RUNS!

Hi Mark--Just wanted to say good luck and we're all out here watching and cheering.

We love you guys!

vch

Appreciate the insight. Congrats to you and the team. Loved watching the champaign flow. Keep it going.

Your neighbors and Cub Nation are pulling for you.

Just have fun and enjoy the ride...

Patrick, Tiff and Taylor.

What a bummer. Good thing you and Z were playing. Do you think AS, AR, and JJ will be playing tomorrow? They sure weren't today.

Love you guys!

GO CUBS !

I thought for sure that you guys were going to win game 1, mainly because of the 6th inning when Webb left the bases loaded. You had a decent game. I just hope that they won't walk or hit you next time so that you can get another hit.

Good Luck on game 2 and I hope that everyone is on their "A" game.

My little league team has more heart than the over paid Cubs.My 9 year old daughter was crying in the 2nd inning of game 3 because she knew it was another just wait'til next
year.To bad the Cubs don't want it as bad as the fans.Nobody to blame this time around no goat no Bartman just over paid players with no HEART!
